Gabor Szepesi - artistic director

Gabor has made music his priority for the last 40 years. He took piano lessons from the age of 7 and attended the University of Toronto’s Conservatory of Music.

Gabor started playing in bands in 1968 and spent the summer of 1969 playing in the house band at the Dardanella in Wasaga Beach. He then went on to play with dozens of great local bands including: Bloodstone, Justin Paige, Lenny Solomon, Grant Smith, Sweet Blindness, Wayne Buttery & the Groove Project and dozens more.

Currently Gabor is concentrating on four recording projects. Rosie’s Smokehouse Deluxe, Shane Cloutier, Dean McTaggart and Jeff Orson.

As well as being in the musician world, Gabor is also the founder and past president of PA+. This company, a provider of world class audio services, quickly became the preferred supplier for Toronto’s top live venues including Massey Hall, Roy Thompson Hall, The Sony Centre & Harbourfront. PA+ had house sound systems in: The Jarvis House, Lee’s Palace, The Diamond Club, Rock N’ Roll Heaven, RPM & The Warehouse.

In 2015 Gabor settled in Wasaga Beach and was asked to consult on the production RFP’s for the Stonebridge Wasaga Beach Blues Festival, working with Wayne Buttery to coordinate festival logistics.

In 2021, after Wayne’s passing, Gabor accepted the offer of taking on the role of “Artistic Director”, as well as Production Consultant for the Wasaga Beach Blues Festival.

“As the Artistic Director of the Stonebridge Wasaga Beach Blues Festival I am trying to grow the festival so that it brings more of a community spirit to Wasaga Beach. We have an amazing beach town that has unlimited, untaped potential.
There is no better way to harness that opportunity than live music to bring people together and tap that potential!”
